When .Zines announced their Pokemon human pokedex series, I knew I had to jump into this project. I was hoping for Dragonite, a personal favorite, but instead I was assigned Poliwhirl. At first I was a tad disappointed, but after looking at everyone else's ideas and sketches and plans, my own quickly started to take shape.

My Poliwhirl girl started out as maybe a child with a pool floatie, an older woman with an apron and glasses, or a kid in a frog onesie; all doodled quickly on a receipt! I'm so glad I kept at it, and came up with my version after also peeking at the artist's work for Poliwag, Poliwhirl's pre-evolution. The addition of pinks into her blue and white design made it all perfect when it came down to color design. 

From there I enjoyed solidifying my character design, then securing an illustration concept that highlighted how fun and cute both Poliwhirl and her human version can be!
